October
Dear Essex Fells Families,
Welcome Autumn. As Essex Fells School moves into the month of October, there are a number of exciting events upcoming.
Fire Prevention Week will be celebrated October 6th-10th with a visit for our Preschool through First grade students from our very own Essex Fells firefighters.
Our sixth graders will experience a trip to the 9-11 Museum with a guided tour from former Mayor Abbot outlining the emergency response from the Essex Fells Fire Department on that historic day. Our sixth graders will also present their Cultural Festival projects for their parents on October 15th.
All students will practice bus evacuation safety drills in preparation for field trips, in accordance with school policy to round out the first half of Marking Period 1 on October 17th.
Violence Awareness Week and Red Ribbon Week are honored during October 20th-30th emphasizing the importance of safe and healthy choices.
The month culminates with our traditional Halloween festivities on Friday, October 31st. All students will be dismissed at 12 noon for lunch and costuming at home. Please be sure costumes are elementary school appropriate. The children should return at 1:30 PM to their homerooms for attendance before the Parade begins at 1:45 PM. The West Essex Marching Band will perform while the students parade around the field prior to their parties at 2:15 PM and a regular dismissal at the end of the day.
Sincerely,
Dr. Michelle V. Gadaleta
